New home for the Goodbye Chains comic! We're still figuring out how to handle the archive, but for now you can download part 1 here and part 2 here.

  • ... it actually too me till your last comment to even understand what was going on in the last three pages. I couldn't tell what dialog was whose. Now I get it! And you are totally right, now I am upset.

Sorry, it would have gone much better in print.

  • Regardless of how the rest of the comic "should" have played out, the last panel of the last page is such a powerful way to end the story. At first I felt sad that I wouldn't see more of Goodbye Chains, but the more I look at it the more it seems it couldn't have ended any other way: anguish, uncertainty and regret. I connected with this character viscerally at that moment; a gut-wrenching feeling you get when the past is painful and the future seems like an impossibility. Thank you.

I really thought more people would be upset at the thought that Johnny had betrayed Banquo! I’m glad you liked it, though.

  • Thank you for sharing your comic with us for so long. I have read it since the beginning and have enjoyed it greatly. I wanted to say I appreciate the decision not to give a summary of it. Without the art to express it, it is nowhere near the same thing. (Plus, if it is a sad ending, getting a summary instead of experiencing it through the art would just be upsetting to me.) So now my question: will you be linking here to any future artistic endeavors either of you undertake?

I’m sure we will. Thank you for still being interested in our work after we let you down.

  • I agree with fans wanting a bit more of an answer. I was very invested in this comic, you ripped my heart out and then left me hanging. I appreciate you letting us know there will be no more so we aren't constantly looking for updates (like some other comics have done to people). But the idea that you still have a presence seems like you could give us closure. Or promise of closure one of these days?

    Hell, you never know.

    Sorry again about your heart.

  • Wanting privacy is one thing, but after some of us have been faithfully following this story for years only to be told, "can't finish it, but just so you know, it ends the only way it could end, whatever you think that means!" is a bit frustrating. You don't have to agree, but at least pretend to understand why we're frustrated here. Frankly, I feel like I've wasted my time caring about this story, especially by an author that doesn't give a damn about their readers.

I was going to reply to this with all due curtness, but I apologize if I’ve given off the impression that I’m immune to feelings of frustration over this. Everything you’re feeling, awful as it is? That PALES in comparison to it from our side.

So, yes, sorry again, and I hate that we had to disappoint you. But it’s not exactly puppies and rainbows over here either.

I’m sorry, we’re OK. I’ve just been busy and haven’t been as attentive on these as I should be. Thank you for worrying and I’m sorry we worried you :).

  • You stop doing the comic, not telling your loyal fans why. You also don't let anyone else to take over, or don't even do the little thing of telling how the story would end. Isn't that a little bit selfish. considering how long people have been supporting you and your work?

    Selfish?

  • Are the donations for hard-copies of the extras? Can we buy digital copies?
    Anonymous

They’re digital copies; we don’t have hard copies, sadly.

  • Ok, so how do we donate?
    Anonymous

You can send donations via Paypal to gcgoodiebag@gmail.com.  Both are NSFW and require you to be 18 before we can send you anything. The original version requires a donation of at least $12.50, and includes both naughty and cleaner versions of the same scenario (the cleaner version being canonical); I believe the version with the Comrade is the same price, but is pure filth.

  • Ever read The Mystery of Edwin Drood, by Charles Dickens? It was his last book. It was really good. It's unfinished. I mention it because you say you're livid to be asked about passing the comic to another artist. Perhaps you're unaware of how painful it is to get to the end of a *really good* but unfinished story. I've never bothered to read any of the attempts to "finish" Edwin Drood, but I take great comfort from having read what he told a friend about how he planned to end things.

If I had died, I imagine my opinions on the matter would be somewhat different. Unfortunately for you, I am alive.
